All-Clad 6.5 Quart Slow Cooker Manufacturer: All-Clad Model Number: 99009 Size: 6.5 Price: $ 199.99 Programmable: Yes Warm, Low, High settings: Yes Oval or Round: Oval Ceramic or stove top safe: Ceramic All-Clad is known for its sturdy, well-built cookware and their slow cooker continues this tradition. The handles are riveted and made from metal and the body of the slow cooker is also metal while the black crock is ceramic. The stainless steel electrical unit is as tough and sturdy as you might expect. But steer clear of the metal body and the handles while the slow cooker is cooking because they get unusually hot. All-Clad Handles get very hot during cooking. To test the power of this workhorse of a cooker, we made a baked chicken recipe (with four chicken breasts) and a cherry cobbler recipe (that included a 21-oz.
Can of cherry pie filling, a 20 oz. Can of crushed pineapples, and a box of cake mix). We found that this slow cooker cooked our test recipes completely in the shortest amount of time each recipe suggested. We cooked the chicken recipe for 4 hours on high. The 6.5 quart size is large enough to make supper for four people with plenty of leftovers.
All-Clad electrics are designed to complement any All-Clad cookware collection. 5QT GOURMET SLOW COOKER WITH ALL-IN-ONE BROWNING. Compare Go compare. Slow Cooker Problems #6: You aren’t sure whether to use the low or high setting. Believe it or not, the low versus high settings aren’t different final temperatures. Rather, the high setting gets the slow cooker to boiling point faster than the low setting. Then, the contents will remain at a simmer for the rest of the cooking process.
But it also cooked our smaller portion well, too, although it was a bit overcooked. Next time, we will test the chicken with a meat thermometer after it’s cooked for 3 hours (or 1 hour before the end of the shortest cooking time suggested). If the temperature is below 165 degrees at that point, we will continue cooking for 30 minutes more and then check again. The dump cake recipe we tested was moist and cakey, and not doughy or undercooked. It was perfect when cooked for 2 hours on low, again the shortest amount of time the recipe suggested. The digital display is nice and very easy to use. The plastic buttons remained cool during the cooking process.
This All-Clad slow cooker is the perfect workhorse slow cooker for a family or a group. The price tag might seem a little steep, but after using this model for years, we think it’s well worth the higher cost. I got my All-clad slow cooker in 2010. I replaced the black crock once after 2 years, and now it no longer heats up. All-Clad did not offer to fix it. They did offer to send me a new unit at a discount of $118.80 including shipping.
All-clad Slow Cooker Instructions
But for that price 1 can buy 4 ordinary brand slow cookers. It is very sad that such an expensive cooker cannot be repaired and has to end up in the garbage. The electronic control should be a replaceable module that the consumer can unplug and replace and extend the life the cooker to many generations. Anyhow, I do not recommend paying extra for a cooker that fails and is not repairable. Have had my all clad crockpot for a little over a year clearly I liked it from its looks also cause we didn’t do much reviewing and bought it just knowing the ceramic insert tended to chip so we took the precautionary methods to prevent that. This morning at 3:30 am my boyfriend got Up to start cooking the soup I prepared the night before and to his surprise the all clad crockpot was broken all the lights were red that are normally white, and it was clicking this seems to mean that it’s broken forever and of course I’m out of my warranty by a month!
I love all clad I’ve used the pots and pans my whole life I assumed this would be a good product. Will be calling customer support at reasonable time. I’ve had this slow cooker for years.
In fact, I bought it from WS when it had a white ceramic insert and was $299! It is a great slow cooker – BUT if you read the reviews (especially Amazon), after awhile the ceramic crock starts to develop little hairline cracks, then they get larger and larger until you have to replace the crock at $75/each + shipping from All Clad (when they are in stock). I’m on my FIFTH crock in as many years. I treat the crock very carefully. It’s never been dropped, always cools down, washed by hand, never in the dishwasher, etc. And it still happens. It is frustrating b/c otherwise it is a great slow cooker!
