Kindergarten 101 If you’re wondering what your child might be doing in their kindergarten class, look no farther! We’ve put together some information about what you can expect from this first step of your child’s journey in the K-12 educational system. Circle Time Different districts may have different schedules, but most kindergarten classrooms have students participate in morning circle time. During circle time, students say the pledge of allegiance, look at a calendar, and talk about the weather and season. Afterward, teachers will guide the students through various kindergarten subjects.

Subjects While different kindergarten classes may focus on different subjects, there are some fundamental topics every kindergarten class will cover:. Math: Kindergartners typically learn how to count, do single digit addition and subtraction, read a clock, and skip count.

Skip counting (counting by 2’s, 3’s, 4’s etc.) is very useful for building a good foundation for single digit. Language Arts: Your child will be introduced to sight words, rhyming, consonant blends, and the silent e. Social Studies: In kindergarten, students begin to learn about the months, the U.S. States, and continents. Sometimes, kindergartners will also begin to learn about the functions of different professions and places. Free Time Children will always get a break for lunch after a few lessons. Some students will pack lunches and others will get food from the cafeteria.

Depending on the school and teacher, the students will either eat in the cafeteria or in the classroom with their fellow classmates. Some schools will then let kindergartners go outside for recess time where kids can play on playsets, play sports, or socialize before returning back to the classroom. Certain schools even have nap time or free choice, where children can play with blocks, playdough, or other classroom resources. Disney lesson plans make learning even the most boring subjects fun! Almost everyone I know loves Disney! It seems that if your students and/or your own children are like mine, they love anything and everything Disney. In reality, it’s not just kids, but adults too!

In turn, love = making learning fun = making teachers and parents happy. However, when looking for resources I found that they are all over the place. Since I don’t want to have to search every time I would like a Disney resource, I decided to gather the best and list them here by type. In any event, I hope you find them as helpful and fun as I do! Indeed, you’re never too young (or too old!) to love Mickey and other wonderful characters, so why not make learning fun by incorporating them into your lessons and activities?
