Garritan Personal Orchestra Kp2 Update

  1. Garritan Personal Orchestra Manual

Hope this is in the right place.and ok that I am posting it. For those that have GPO, or thought about grabbing it, NI have finally finished putting the GPO update online (79M), which includes the new K2 Player for GPO. This update also makes GPO UB for all of us Mactel users!!!

Free garritan update download software at UpdateStar. » garritan personal orchestra 5 update » garritan personal orchestra kp2 update. Garritan Personal Orchestra. In order to play soundfonts, use (qsynth. Synth along with (midiox. Synth to load the soundfont you have and make it get.

(initial reports are all good so far.you might need to move a few files if you had GPO installed already.so, any questions, feel free to ask) EDIT OK.for those who have GPO already installed, or someone who installs the library after the update. Or, anyone who might have an issue. Hit your NI account, and go to your Updates (protected). You should have two items: The Kontakt Player 2 GPO edition update, and a registration/serial number update.

Do the serial/registration thing- it sends a new reg/serial number for the player via email. You wil now have 2 numbers for GPO. You will need both for a completely new install. If you have GPO installed and registered/authorized already, you only need to have the new number handy. The new installer will install several things.

Garritan Personal Orchestra Manual

First: If you have the original plug-in and library installed, leave it for now. If you do not.then install from the original disks first, including the library. Do a 'Custom Install' and direct the library to the disk and folder you want. It will auto-install to a subfolder of that called 'GPO Library.' Uncheck the VST, RTAS, etc plug-in. Just get the standalone to install.

Run the Registration Tool (found in./Applications/Garritan Personal Orchestra). Be sure to use your orignal serial from GPO for this!!! You will need the original library autorized to have it work right in the new update.(ugh.and a big sigh.dont we all love NI? ) Second: Install the update. Easy Install is fine. When you select the destination for the APP (not explicitly asked for in the original install of GPO), choose wisely.

Since I have a few other NI instruments, I created a folder called 'Native Instruments' in my./Applications folder before doing anything, and opted to change the install folder to that one instead of the default 'Applications' destination. Otherwise, you end up with multiple NI instrument folders, which are not prefixed with 'NI' or anything.

OK, so I like a tidy folder structure ANYWAY! Once you have that selected, it will install the new Kontakt2 Player in it's own folder, called (drum roll please): Kontakt Player 2. This is the new consolidation thing NI has going on, so if you have other libraries using the Kontakt Player 2 engine, they will share this puppy now (I am assuming.). NI software now uses an new tool called the 'NI Service Center.'

This is an app that you launch seperately from any NI plug-ins to autorize any software of theirs from a certain date of release on (figure any NI updates you perform after Nov 2006 will use this new utility; prior, you will need to authorize as you used to.which is why I had you do step one first) ) I directed the installer to install the NI Service Center in that lovely folder I created to hold all my lovely NI software before. Default is to install it in the./Applications folder. Finally, direct it to install the library portion wherever you would like your samples for GPO to be (assuming you are using a seperate disk from the System drive for this). I would STRONGLY advise against installing into the original GPO library folder (called GPO Library).

I actually created a folder on my samples drive called 'Garritan' to install the libraries into (so, it now has two folders in IT, called GPO Library and GPO KP2 Library), and figure it makes tings tidy should I purchase more Garritan library material later (like the Strad, JABB, or whatever). Let it do it's magic, and sit back with a nice string of drool swinging from your mouth in anticipation. Almost there. Once finished, nav over to the drive you directed it to install the library so you know exactly where it is. The original Library should have installed into a folder called 'GPO Library' and had content and subfolders (with more content) within it. The new library's folder is named (another drum roll pls): GPO KP2 Library.

You will now need to make a decision: copy or move three files (each about 600M). If you are 100% certain you will never use the original GPO player (if you are on an Intel Mac for instance, you probably wont, since only the stand alone will run, and it will only run in rosetta mode- yuck), then cool! Move the files. Otherwise, simply make a copy of them, and paste into that new GPO KP2 Library folder (not in it's subfolders, the main folder!) These are the 3 files you need to move/copy from the old/original GPO Library folder TO the new GPO KP2 Library folder: GPOLibrarypart1.nks GPOLibrarypart2.nks GPOLibrarypart3.nks Those are the actual sample 'bundles.' Four: Launch the new NI 'Service Center' app. You must have done the Authorization Tool on the original GPO library prior to this, or this part will fail in some part.

Once launched, login, and then you should see your nice new Kontakt Player 2 waiting for autorization. If the box next to it is not checked, do so, and click next.

All should go well, and you should now be able to launch the stand-alone of the Kontakt Player 2 software, and you should see the Garritan Personal Orchestra library available for use!!! If you see a nasty looking yellow warning triangle with an exclamation point (upper left corner, above the Garritan logo; if it authorized properly, it will simply say, 'Garritan Personal Orchestra KP2' just above the Grraitan logo/emblem), you have failed in registering the new plug-in via NI Service Center, or the original library content, or both. Review my directions, and if that does not reveal your error, post, email.or hit the Northern Sounds forums where Gary Garritan's company has an excellent place to find support. The new update changes how GPO works.sort of. GPO runs within the KP2 now basically. I am not sure if I like it more than the original or not yet.

But, it is so nice to have it back! Did you move (or copy) the 3 original.nks files (they are the big files; like 500-600M each I think) into the new GPO KP2 Library folder?

Have you seen the page for helping with the install process? I have not been in front of my Mac all day (medical fun), so I dont have a reference right this moment. Worst case, if you dont have it resolved by tomorrow afternoon, I could offer to send you my phone number, and then I can walk thru some quickie trouble-shooting to see if I can help find out why it isnt working. (ps- will send the icon package tomorrow as well when I fire the Mac back up).

GPO 5 also incorporates Sonic Morphing, an innovative technology that produces seamless dynamics ranging from the very quietest pianissimo to the loudest, most audacious forte sounds – with a continuous variety of timbre changes along the way. Press Reviews 'GPO5 is a solid, if not earth-shattering update.

It´s a superb option for the thrifty producer looking for quality orchestral sounds in a flexible, easy-to-use package.' - Computer Music 'Garritan´s Personal Orchestra has always been a great value-for-money, highly efficient orchestra library with a fast workflow and respectable sampled instruments. Version 5 is even better, with improved sounds and a helluva lot more of them.

9/10 Music Tech - “It is impossible not to be impressed by this package, and it is sure to be a valuable tool for the educator and student alike.” - Music Education Resources, ' This is a great orchestral collection for the price.' - AskAudio, ' a compact and budget-friendly orchestral library, but a lot more complete and flexible than many much larger and more expensive libraries. It’s an excellent orchestra for the bedroom producer who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money and disk space on orchestra samples. It’s also perfect for academic use, and a powerful tool for the serious orchestral music producer who already owns multiple virtual orchestras and always wants more.'

- ' Remains a fine all-round choice and is capable of really expressive and musical results. If you need a complete orchestra collection for your DAW or notation program then GPO5 is a good choice and if you own the earlier version then the upgrade is a complete no-brainer as far as I can see.” - Tony Cliff, ' GPO5 is the ultimate orchestral solution for any budding producer or academic on a budget, without compromising on sound quality or flexibility.' - Save Save Save Save Save Save. This upgrade requires previous registration of GPO 4. OS X 10.8 or later.
